Karamani/Black eyed peas Sundal

Ingredients Required:
Black eyed peas - 1 Cup
Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
Urad Dhal - 1 tsp
Fresh grated coconut - 2 tblspn
Red Chilli - 3
Salt to taste

How to make?
Soak the peas for 4 hours or overnight in water.
Pressure cook the peas in a cooker with salt for 1 whistle or just cook the peas in boiling water in a vessel, so you can check from time to time to make sure that the peas are not overcooked and mushy.
Heat little oil in a pan, and add mustard seeds, allow to splutter.
Add red chilli and urad dhal, fry for a minute.
Add the cooked peas, toss few times.
Top it up with the fresh grated coconut and mix well.

Adding coconut is optional.
Frozen coconut can also be used.
