Tamrind - lemon sized
Mint Leaves - 1/2 cup , loosely packed
Tomato - 1, chopped
Cilantro - few springs
Rasam Powder - 2 tsp
Toor Dhal - less than 1/4 cup
Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp
Red Chilli - 3 - 4
Salt to taste
How to make?
Pressure cook the dhal with one cup of water and set aside.
Microwave the tamrind with 2 cups of water for 2 minutes and set aside.
Boil this tamrind water in a vessel, add the chopped tomatoes, rasam powder and salt.
Bring to a boil, and add the cooked dhal along the dhal water.
In another pan, heat little oil and add the chopped mint leaves allow to fry for few seconds till the leaves shrink. Add this to the boiling rasam.
In the same pan, heat some more oil, add the mustard seeds and allow to splutter and add the red chillies, fry for few more seconds.
Add this seasoning to the rasam.
Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve with white rice.
