Channa Masala

Channa Masala is a popular gravy served with Indian Bread varieties. It is Chickpeas cooked in tomato base with other spices.
It can be served with Batura, Poori, Roti, Naan and even with bread!

Serves 2
Ingredients Required:
Chickpeas - 1 Cup
Tomato - 2, finely chopped
Onion - 1, finely chopped
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
Garam masala - 2 tsp
Chole Masala - 4 tsp
Dry mango powder - 1 tsp
Coriander Powder - 1 tsp
Cumin Powder - 1 tsp
Chilli powder - 1 tsp
Salt as required
Coriander leaves
Tea bags - 1

How to make?
Soak the chickpeas in water for 6 to 8 hours or for 4 hours in hot water.
Pressure cook the chickpeas with a little salt and with a tea bag.
Heat oil in a pan, and add the cumin seeds,onion and fry till the onions turn golden in color. Add the ginger garlic paste and fry for few more minutes.
Add the chopped tomatoes, and cook well on low heat. When the tomatoes are cooked well, add the garam masala, channa masala, chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, dry mango powder and salt.
Mix well. Add the water from the cooked chickpeas, mix well.
Close the lid and let it cook for 10  minutes on medium heat till the flavours blend in.
Add the cooked chickpeas.
Close the vessel and let it cook for 10 minutes Mix now and then in between.
Garnish with chopped cilantro.
Serve with Indian bread of your choice.
